Alpha Ministry

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the Christian faith. Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to explore life and faith, to ask questions, and share their point of view in an open and friendly environment. Each session includes a meal, a video and a small group discussion. Alpha is for everyone, especially those who are new to the Christian faith, or have become disconnected. Alpha is free and there is no obligation to stay.

This is one of our Parish's newest ministries! Many roles are available, including being part of the Alpha team; small group facilitators; welcomers; hospitality team; administration; and setup teams.

This ministry would suit people who love meeting people, and are warm and friendly. Table hosts should be good listeners, and care about people. Great hospitality is key to Alpha, so there are roles for people who love cooking or organising meals and sharing this with others. Those with gifts in administration are welcome to assist in the admin side of organising Alpha; and there are also roles in setting up the Alpha space for each session. All ministers become part of a vibrant team that is committed to the joyful mission of sharing faith with others and inviting people into relationship with Jesus in the midst of the Church.

An Alpha series runs for 11 weeks. During this time, people really bond and build good relationships and community. Guests also come to know more about Jesus, and many experience a renewal of their faith, or come to faith for the first time. It is an exciting ministry because it allows our Parish to undertake what Jesus commanded us to do, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Mt 28:19). Alpha is a tool that can be transformative in the lives of guests, and can therefore transform our Parish - please consider joining the team!
